God demonstrated His love by sending His Son to be our Savior (1 John 4:9,10). He continues to be gracious to all, as He provides us with rain, sunshine, and sustenance (Acts 14:17).
Yes, God’s love is wonderful. Did you know, though, that there are some things that the love of God does not do? By no means does this minimize the power of His love, but we need to face reality.
God’s love does not remove all of life’s trials and challenges. Jesus faced some hard times, did He not? Yet we would never doubt that His Father loved Him through it all, right? Trials are a part of the human experience (1 Peter 1:6,7).
God’s love does not take away man’s free will. God gives us the freedom to make our own decisions. Some of man’s choices are good; others are evil (John 5:29). God will not step in to prevent a tongue from telling a lie or a hand from pulling a trigger, but He still loves us.
God’s love does not remove the consequences of our choices. Choices have consequences. That truth does not change simply because I can say, “Yes, but God loves me.” Those who chose to kill the Christ needed to repent and be converted in order to have their sins blotted out (Acts 3:15, 17, 19).
God’s love does not save rebellious people. Those who refuse to obey God’s gospel will be lost eternally, and it will not be God’s fault (2 Thessalonians 1:7-9).
God’s love does not eliminate His justice or the coming Day of Judgment. According to the Bible, the God of heaven is both good and severe (Romans 11:22). One day we all will stand before Jesus to be judged (2 Corinthians 5:10).
