Today, as we stand at the threshold between one year and the next, our hearts overflow with gratitude for the countless blessings God has showered upon us and His faithfulness to our church throughout the year 2025. We had our fair share of rejoicings (6 baptisms in the year, academic success, career advancement), growth (increased membership numbers, appointment of a full-time minister), wonderful learning and fellowships (Home, Youth & Ladies Fellowships, meals, field trips & outings, Ladies Day, Youth visits to local congregations), and programmes that foster good spiritual growth(Church Camp, Restoration Seminar, Gospel meetings, Church Planning, Year-end Seminar, Year-end Gathering). We hosted several visiting brethren and are happy to see the young ones take on pulpit duties. We also experienced challenges and loss (bro Yong Eng Lim, bro. Alvin Neoh, sis. Margaret Kumari, bro Sun Jianxi, family members of brethren), we ministered to the needs of members and made visitations that drew us closer together, as fellow recipients of the Lord’s steadfast love.
A Year of God’s Provision
Looking back over these twelve months, we are reminded that “every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.” (James 1:17). Whether through the laughter of children in our children’s classrooms, the warmth of fellowship shared over countless meals together, or the solemn worship services that touched our souls, God’s divine guidance and care were unmistakably present. Our ministries flourished, new friendships forged, and lives were transformed by the power of the Gospel.
We celebrated the baptisms that marked new beginnings (sis. Joanne Kok, bro. Mike Choong, sis. Stella Khoo, bro. Caleb Tan, bro. Meng Fui, bro. Cayden Choong), the marriages that brought families together in love (bro. Fang Hao and sis. Jolene, bro. Jihyung and sis. Natalie), and the faithful labour of so many who answered God’s call to serve (bro, Willy’s acceptance of our request to serve full-time, ministry coordinators and team members). Through mission reports that opened our eyes to global needs, programmes that demonstrated Christ’s love in practical ways, and lectures that deepened our understanding of Scripture, we grew not only in number but in spiritual maturity.
Embracing the Promise of Tomorrow
As we welcome a new year, we do so with hearts full of anticipation and faith. Our God has been our refuge and strength throughout this past year. We stand ready to embrace whatever opportunities He places before us, knowing that His plans for us are good and His love never fails.
The coming year holds the promise of new works (e.g. mission trip to Banaoang, Philippines, potential expansion of church building, Youth Ministry taking on the organising role for YDP 2026). A few of our young adults will be pursuing tertiary education overseas, and we pray that they will continue their journey to spiritual maturity.
A Time for Gratitude and Commitment
As we embrace the final days of December, let us take time to thank God for His abundant blessings and renew our commitment to walk close to Him. He has answered our prayers, showered us with His abundant blessings, and He continues to watch over us. He is ever kind, loving, gracious and merciful.
Our theme for 2026 is “Growing in the Grace and Knowledge” taken from 2 Peter 3:18. We invite every member of our congregation to join in this spiritual quest, asking for God’s guidance as we step forward – uniting our hearts, and using us as instruments of good in a world that is desperately in need of redemption and hope. Together, we will continue writing the story of God’s faithfulness – one day at a time, one act of love at a time, one prayer at a time.
I end with this prayer, taken from Numbers 6:24-26, May ‘the Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace,’ as we step together into the bright promise of a new year, confident that our best days of serving Him are ahead of us, yet. God bless us all!
